WETA classical music host, co-host of Center Stage From Wolf Trap , and on-stage emcee for Chamber Music at the Barns at Wolf Trap Rick Kleinfeldt brings his Washington Saxophone Quartet to the Middleburg Concert Series. Formed in 1976, this is the most widely heard saxophone group in the US. Their recordings have been aired nationwide daily on NPR's "All Things Considered" since 1997. Listeners are surprised that they are hearing four saxophones, as the instruments evoke the refined sounds of a string quartet, the rich harmonies or an organ prelude, and the excitement of a jazz saxophone section. The group plays a wide repertoire from early music to newly commissioned works. They have played throughout the US, in China and in the Caribbean, and have made numerous recordings.
